Min Woo Lee shared the lead but was still outshone by compatriot Jason Day as Australia’s contingent impressed on the opening day of the PGA Tour’s event in La Quinta, California, Lee carded an impressive 10-under round of 62 to share the first round lead with American Pierceson Coody, at the event which uses a unique three-course format. Lee and Coody both played Nicklaus Tournament Course but the round of the day came from Day who carded a nine-under 63 on the Pete Dye Stadium Course, considered to be the toughest of the three layouts all players must play across three days. It puts Day in a great position as he looks to build on an encouraging return to form and fitness in 2025 after a frustrating run of injuries. Leaderboard
