Hermanus – a whale of a time (May/June 2012 edition)
Situated on the Cape South Coast, Hermanus is a charismatic fishing village famous for the whales that come here annually to calve. It is popular with Capetonians as a weekend getaway and during the Christmas and Easter holidays the local population of 8000 swells to over 40000. It is however a fantastic place to visit in the winter months as it is far quieter and there are two brilliant golf courses within a short distance of each other, namely Arabella and Hermanus Golf Clubs.
The town has a wine route nearby and a host of other attractions other than golf, most notable is the fact that you will almost always see whales basking in the bay.
Really good specials are in place for this coming winter, so consider paying Hermanus a visit. We did and found it to be a great golfing destination!
